Regattas at the Eastern

The Pursuit Race format is user-friendly and eliminates the complicated timing of handicap races, and also eliminates the crowded and sometimes intimidating starting line. Handicaps are built in to start times, with slower boats starting first and faster boats' starts delayed to allow slower boats the head start they deserve. The winner of the race is the first to cross the finish line. For one-design boats, Pursuit Races offer a "race within a race". Each one-design class will start together at their designated time. They'll have the challenge of being the first of their class to finish, while also trying to chase down the fleet (or hold the fleet off!) for overall honors. The EYC will host all sailors in the EYC Sailing Center after racing for light refreshments, a chit/cash bar, and impromptu prizes.

Skippers Meeting June 27

The Commodore's Cup is an annual regatta between Eastern Yacht Club, Boston Yacht Club, and Corinthian Yacht Club. Competition in the harbor occurs in Sonars, main and jib only, and each club fields a team that must include Flag Officers. At the end of the day, the champion club hoists its burgee at the host club. Click here if interested in sailing for Team EYC.

The Annual Regatta happens yearly on July 4. Join us in celebrating a great American holiday with a fun day on the water.  All captains, crew and their guests are invited to the Eastern Sailing Center after the final race to socialize and cheer on the recipients of the trophies that will be presented celebrating the accomplishments of the day.
Trophies Awarded
Trophies will be awarded to the boat with the best corrected time in each class with three or more entries. Second and third place trophies will be awarded to classes with six and ten or more entries, respectively.
The Commodore James J. Storrow Trophy will be awarded to the winners in Classes A and B.
The Cleopatra’s Barge Cup will be awarded to the winners in Classes C and D.
The Gracie Trophy will be awarded to the winner in the Cruising Class.
The Puritan Cup will be awarded to the Eastern Yacht Club boat making the best corrected time in the racing classes,
The Guy Norman Cup will be awarded to the Eastern Yacht Club boat making the best corrected time in the Cruising Class.
A trophy will be awarded to the winner of any fleet (e.g. IOD, J/70, R19 etc.) racing as a one-design class, with at least six starters.

The highlight of the summer schedule is Marblehead Race Week, which was established in 1889.  The senior divisions have been incorporated into the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series, adding a national flavor to this historic event.  In conjunction with Junior Race Week, the racing typically attracts upwards of 200 boats. Sponsored by Helly Hansen, the Marblehead Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series is always held during the third full week of July. More information can be found on the Sailing World website.

The 8th Annual Storm Trysail Club Ted Hood Regatta, held in Marblehead at the Eastern Yacht Club, is open to all boats with a valid PHRF New England certificate, an ORC certificate, J70, and J105 Class boats. A Distance Ocean Race Friday night for full crewed or Double-Handed racers, and Jib & Main classes. More information can be found here.

Our signature event, the Halloween Team Race, has become a popular fixture on the national keelboat team race circuit. This Annual Team Racing event is run inside the harbor each year for 8 teams aboard Harbor Sonars. Teams compete through the weekend for the Halloween Cup and enjoy spooky festivities on shore.
