Club Etiquette

Our dress code is a balance between respecting long standing traditions of the Eastern Yacht Club while complementing today's more casual and active lifestyle. We hope the following guidelines will be helpful in making your visit enjoyable and comfortable for you and your guests.

  • Henderson Dining Room (formal): Yacht Club Casual (button down dress shirt and slacks), jacket and tie are optional. On Friday and Saturday evenings jackets are required, and on Sunday porch attire is allowed.
  • Barker Clubroom (casual): Button-down dress shirt and slacks suggested if dining; a collared polo shirt and shorts are permitted as is sailing and tennis attire.
  • Samoset Porch (casual): Casual but neat attire. No swimsuits.
  • Galley Grille and Bluestone Bistro (casual): Casual but neat attire. Females are to cover bathing suits; males must have a shirt or t-shirt on. No bare feet.

  • Jeans (no rips or tears) are permitted but may not be worn in the Living Room or Henderson Dining Room.
  • Hats may not be worn in the clubhouse including the Barker Clubroom at any time. Members and guests may wear hats on the club’s porches, patios, and lawn at their discretion to protect themselves from the sun.
  • No one under the age of 18 years shall be permitted in the Barker Clubroom.
  • Footwear must be worn in the clubhouse, Galley Grille, Bluestone Bistro and restrooms.
  • Speaking on a cell phone is not permitted in the clubhouse, porches, or patio area. Please walk outside to the parking area or lawn to hold a phone conversation.
  • The American flag is lowered at sunset each day for what is known as "COLORS." At the sound of the cannon (bell on Sunday), kindly stop whatever you are doing wherever you are on club property, remove your hat, stand and face the flag terrace area, and remain silent until all flags are lowered.
