Hurricane Earl: EYC Waterfront Plan
Posted On: September 1, 2010

Dear Eastern Members:

As I'm sure you are aware the EYC falls within Hurricane Earl's potential path.  Given the unpredictability of these storm situations the Waterfront Staff will begin the process of dismantling the Club's waterfront today.  (Wednesday, September 1)

Please note the following important considerations:
Dinghies - All dinghies must be removed from EYC floats.  The Waterfront Staff will begin carefully removing all 50 dinghies this morning and placing them on the grass near the Boathouse.  If you would rather move your dinghy yourself please contact Mike Smith ASAP.
Launch Service - Given the time and efforts required to retract or lower our two gangways launch service cannot be guaranteed beyond 6pm Thursday evening.  Please plan accordingly if you want to check your moored boat.
Finger Floats - The two camels will be hauled Thursday afternoon, without them crane operation will not be available.  Please plan accordingly if you need to use the cranes.
Launching Ramp - Please consider that usage of the ramp can be very difficult once a storm surge sets in.  Give yourself ample time if you intend on using the ramp.

In the event that Earl turns out to be a non event the Waterfront Staff will make any and all efforts to have the floats and gangways back up and running as soon as possible for the holiday weekend.  In the meantime, the Waterfront Committee and Staff greatly appreciate your patience as these decisions and the timing with which to execute them are not easy but that they are made with your Club's best interest in mind.

Sincerely,
The Waterfront Committee and Staff
