Harbor Challenge Team Racing Returns Today!
Posted On: June 17, 2010

Calling all those interested in team racing!  The Harbor Challenge, the popular summer-long team racing round-robin between EYC, CYC and BYC begins on Thursday evening. Sailed in the club's three Sonars, and open to all EYC members, the Harbor Challenge has quickly become of the most popular summer sailing programs at the Club.

The format of the weekly Thursday night series is definitely fun-oriented and participant friendly.  To join the EYC team, email Sailing Director Greg Wilkinson and let him know you are coming, he will see that you're placed on a boat for that week's sailing.  Don't worry if you've never team raced before -- one of the goals of the Harbor Challenge is to teach less experienced team racers from all three clubs about this exciting form of sailing.

The evening begins with a team meeting on the Pleon docks at 5:30 with racing scheduled to begin at 6:15.  We will race until the wind or the light dissapears and then adjourn to the Barker room for a post race debrief, complete with video, competitor commentary, complimentary snacks and a chit or cash bar.

The Harbor Challenge brings a cross section of EYC members together for a great sailing experience. Some of our best team racers are some of our newest (and youngest members). They are joined weekly by one design racers from almost every fleet, PHRF sailor and (occasionally!) EYC flag officers.  A good time is guaranteed!
