PHRF New Englands A Success Despite Tropical Storm Danny
Posted On: August 31, 2009

The remnants of Tropical Storm Danny, which brought 25-30 knots of breeze out of the northeast on Saturday, turned the PHRF New Englands into a two-day event.  Despite no racing on Saturday, each Race Committee was able to complete five races, making for an excellent championship for 104 boats entered in this year's PHRF Championship.  As always, Eastern Yacht Club was well represented in all classes and took top three honors in several classes.

Henry Brauer and Stewart Neff and their crew aboard SCIMITAR won the J/105 in impressive fashion - winning four of five races and scoring just seven points in the competitive 22-boat J/105 fleet.  Taking second in the J/105s was Peter & Doug Morgan's STEEL AWAY.  Jack Slattery, serving as tactician aboard the Swan 42 APPARITION, won Class 1.  Eastern's Gordon Hall and the crew of KATABATIC took third in Class 2.  Eastern's Jack Cochrane aboard his Colgate 26 FALL LINE was second in Class 7.  Jack Cochrane's Colgate 26 FALL LINE took second in Class 7.
