Union Club of Boston
On behalf of the Officers, Governors and Members of the Union Club of Boston, it is my pleasure to extend to you an invitation to avail yourself of the facilities at Eight Park Street for Evening Dining during the Winter months when Eastern’s facilities are closed.
Should you choose to dine at the Union Club, please sign your dinner chit: Name, EYC XXXX. Please rest assured that all charges will be billed through your Eastern Yacht Club account.
Dinner is served nightly in the fifth floor Red Room overlooking scenic Boston Common and the majestic Back Bay skyline between six and eight thirty PM, Tuesday through Friday nights. While reservations are always encouraged Tuesday through Thursday, they are mandatory on Fridays (if we have no reservations before four PM, we let the staff go home). New this year is informal dining alternative in the Everett Room Bar. Please call the Union Club at (617) 227-0589 if you wish to make a reservation.
I am pleased to report Valet Parking is available or you may utilize one of several parking garages that are located within walking distance of Eight Park Street (The Boston Common Garage and One Beacon Street Garage).
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of our principal house rules:
“Business casual” (shirts with collar, dress slacks and non-athletic shoes for men and equivalent attire for women) is the minimum standard dress in the Clubhouse, though many male Members and guests will continue to appear in suit and tie. Athletic attire is never appropriate in the Clubhouse. Specific attire may be required for special Club events.
Members and Guests who choose to dress casually should, in courtesy, avoid obtruding upon occasions where they observe others maintaining a greater degree of formality.
Business papers may not be displayed in public rooms.
With limited exceptions, see below, cellular telephones may not be used in any area where other Members or Guests may hear or observe the conversation. If you find it necessary to use one, please do so in a phone booth, in the Governor Andrew Member Study or outside the Clubhouse.
Members are responsible for ensuring that Guests are made aware of these policies before arriving at the Club.
I hope that you and your guests will feel free to join us frequently. The Granary room, overlooking the Granary Burying Ground, and/or the Everett Room Bar is a wonderful spot to begin your evening with salubrious beverages to be followed by either informal dining in the Everett Room Bar for a full formal menu in the Red Room.
Cordially yours, Stephen B. Jeffries, President
