It is hard to believe that camp has come and gone. In just six weeks, our campers learned the ropes and sailed the harbor with the Family Sail staff, hit forehands and backhands on the tennis courts, honed their freestyle and backstroke in the pool and decorated the Galley Grille with their artwork. They spooked the Club with their costumes on Halloween Day, and scared the scurvy right out of the Eastern as they swash buckled their way to finding hidden treasure on Pirate Day. Not to be left out during Race Week, our campers built their own ships and raced them on Boat Day, honoring one of Marblehead's oldest traditions. This fun-packed summer also included a cozy Pajama Day and a chance for our campers to ready themselves for London 2012 with three-legged races, potato-sack races, and tug-o-war in the second-annual Camp Olympics. Another treat was fishing off the dock with some awesome camp dads, where the campers learned the basics of fishing and even had a chance to reel in a few fish themselves! To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the camp, Caroline Hybel and the campers created an unbelievable burgee that is proudly hung in the Galley Grille (click here to see a picture). It was truly an all-star summer for the Eastern Camp. We had a fantastic staff of counselors and an even more amazing group of campers which made for an incredible summer.
