Dear Fellow EYC Members:
LIQUOR POLICY AT THE POOL
There has been a great deal of discussion regarding the liquor policy at the Pool Facility. With a great deal of effort over this past year, and in order to bring the Club into full compliance with the current rules and regulations of the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, the Club took steps to have our primary Liquor License expanded to cover the lawn area on the harbor side of the Clubhouse and to obtain a separate Liquor License for the Pool Facility. These steps were taken in order to bring the Club and our facilities in line with the constantly changing State Regulations.
Over the course of the winter, a great deal of time was devoted to establishing guidelines for the Pool Facility. This included whether liquor would be allowed in any fashion at the pool. It was determined that if done properly and in a controlled fashion liquor could be enjoyed safely. The Pool Committee, under the guidance of Jean Skaane, adopted a policy of having a bar set up at the Pool on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, when the Pool Facility is being used more by adults in connection with family evenings and cookouts. This policy was reviewed in detail by the Council and unanimously adopted. Other than the times established, and other special events that may be approved by the Pool Committee consumption of alcoholic beverages at the Pool Facility may not occur. As we move forward, these policies and times will be reviewed for appropriateness, discussed further by the Pool Committee and Council and changes, if warranted, will be made.
On several occasions in the past, correspondence has been sent to the Membership with a reminder that BYOB or consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises not consistent with the established guidelines is not permitted. This means, again, that BYOB into the Pool Facility is prohibited. Also, except for the times approved by the Pool Committee, no alcoholic beverages of any kind may be consumed at the Pool.
The Council trusts that all Members will abide by the rules, and that if questioned by any staff member, will treat him/her with appropriate respect. The Council will fully stand behind any staff member who enforces these rules, and will, if necessary, take appropriate action should any Member act contrary to the established rules.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely
Robert E. Doyle, Commodore
On behalf of the Council
