Marblehead Junior Race Week has ended.
The races, the fun, and the games all suspended
Till next year's group of young sailors are prepped
While the memories of this year, one soon can't forget
The coach boats are hauled, racers returned home
The once busy Pleon, ones now free to roam
The dry sail area once filled with young sailors
Now holds much less but some forgotten bailers.
Parents, coaches, fellow classmates, and all
Are so pleased of what each kid did in their yawl[1]
Each stuck it out, through thick and the thin
I'd be proud to have all of them dubbed as my kin
While spirit ran high and faces all smiles
Each sailor sailed his or her vessel for miles
Three lengthy days; don't know how they got through it
Maybe ten pounds of candy used as a conduit[2]
Well when Race Week's all over; all said and done
At least we all know what team had the most fun
Cause when it comes to kids, coaches and parents deeply caring
It can be found more than anywhere else in the world anywhere EVER at EYC JUNIOR SAILING!!!
1Don't actually think an Opti is a yawl.
2This one is a stretch...;
Well, Race Week has ended. I believe the short poem above says all that the pictures don't (which isn't much!), but in my opinion, this has been one of the best race week performances ever. Always in high spirit, our junior sailors pulled together day after day and conquered the biggest junior regatta Marblehead hosts on a yearly basis. I also have to give a shout out to our recent graduates, who were the only kids in green fleet who had sailed Marblehead Race Week before. They came back again and were more prepared than anyone else out there. Our Opti III guys, new and past, really are the bee's knees. All the instructors are proud of you all.
Up next: Mass Bay Junior Olympics. It's a bit smaller than MJRW, but it would be an excellent experience for all! Just think about it...;
Mad Max - Standing proud.
