Sloop/Sonars started off with some ancillary up-brushing and swim-testing, and then finished off practically with a sail up through the harbor. The goings for this class are strong and up to speed already. Katie says "we should be seeing great things from this group of kids."

Intro to Junior Sailing: Liam says that most of the new class "really like sailing optis already." Bad weather kept them from going out on their second day, but they still managed to "rock out" with some parts-of-the-boat quizzing, and practiced using the tiller so that they'll be ready to get back on the water come Tuesday morning.

Opti I hit the ground running with a swim test, a capsizing test, brushed up on some rigging and cruised through Riverhead. Class Instructor Liza says: "each kid steered by themselves" I was impressed by their alacrity."

Opti II started out with some parts of the boat exercises and delved into the wonderful world of reaching. Tori says the kids are already "dying to sail by themselves," which means that this year's class could be way ahead of the curve.

Opti III: The first ever "synchronized capsizing test" was beautiful, educational, and hilarious to watch. They ran through a rigging demo, honed their mainsheet trimming skills, and brushed up on the basics with some figure eights and points-of-sail drills. Tucker says: "I was impressed with every child. They all seem stoked to be on the water for the summer."
