The Junior Journal, Part Six Session 2, Week 2 - this is it. The core of the summer. We're far enough from the beginning to have worked out all the kinks, but too far from the end to be getting sentimental yet. We're in a groove. We've got habits, we're having fun. We're making sailors, a person with a construct of abilities that extends far beyond telling from whence the wind blows and how to trim their sail accordingly (though that skill has not been forgotten - Golly, no.) Posted on: August 11, 2009 The Junior Journal Part 5 The first week of a session is always a bit harrowing. We always worry: "What if the new kids don't like us? What if they call us smelly, stupid, or are mean in even more clever ways?" Luckily, those worries turned out be baseless, as this session's students are some pretty chill ladies and dudes. Since 1996, the Eastern has offered its members a way to harness the wind and their skills through our family sailing program. Headquartered in the paddle tennis hut, with a "harbor station" by the causeway, our learn-to-sail activities serve members and their children in Optimist dinghies and Sonars.
