Star District 1 Championship

Twenty seven Star boats visited EYC this past weekend for what was to be the largest Star District 1 Championship in over 15 years. Excellent conditions made for tight racing, with seven races completed over three days in conditions ranging from 6-16 knots. Arthur Anosov and David Caesar led throughout the event and took the overall win. EYC's Tomas Hornos sailing with Josh Revkin took second overall and were crowned District 1 Champions for the third consecutive year. Jud Smith and David Timberlake rounded out the top three. Be sure to check out the drone footage from the regatta.

Newport Regatta
Nick Burke won the Newport Regatta in the highly competitive 505 Class, scoring 17 points over six races to take the regatta win by one point overall. Bill Lynn sailing with Tom Erskine and Alden Reid took second overall in the Melges 20 class, which featured several teams training for this fall's Resolute Cup. Jud Smith, tactician for Hannah Swett was 3rd in the J/70 Class, while Darby Smith skippering Africa took 8th.

Newport Race Week
Steve Cucchiaro won the Multihull Class at Newport Race Week. Steve's crew aboard his Gunboat 60, Flow, included Jack Slattery and Stan Schreyer.

Constitution Cup
Betsy McCombs and the crew of Scherherazade won both races to win Class A at the Constitution Cup hosted by Cottage Park Yach Club.

Pursuit Race
Donald Miller took the win in Pursuit Race #2, edging out Todd Barbera's Sea Paws and John Thompson's Hall Pass in second and third. The next Pursuit Race is scheduled for August 19th. You can register here.

Jr. Sailing News, Correction
Ashley Hoguet took second overall in the Championship Fleet at the Linda Wieditz Opti Regatta in Rockport last week. Last week's Sailing News incorrectly stated that Griffin [Walters] and Will [Weissenburger] took 2nd and 3rd at the first race of the Manchester Green Fleet Regatta - that's Jack Weissenburger, apologies Jack and great job!

Front Row Seat for NOOD Regatta
Over 175 boats are registered for this year's Marblehead Race Week, NOOD Regatta next week. There's no better way to catch all the action than from an EYC Race Committee boat and the RC needs you! Contact Alan McKinnon to volunteer for one or more days next Thursday through Sunday.
