EYC Sailors Dominate Rhodes 19 East Coast Championships

Charlie Pendleton, Jim Rasides & Jack Rasides won the opening race at the Rhodes 19 East Coast Championships and never looked back, winning five of the eight races sailed and winning the championship by more than fifteen points. Dru Slattery with Linda Epstein & Lydia Grasberger took second overall with Seamus Hourihan, Peter Frisch and Paula Grasberger in fourth. Matt Hooks', Larry Ehrhardt's and Frank McNamara's teams took eighth through tenth, respectively. An impressive showing for EYC, taking not only the top two spots, but six of the top ten. Sailing Director Greg Wilkinson was on hand and has posted his coaching observations in the Coaches' Corner on the EYC web page.

Pursuit Race Tomorrow, June 19, 6p First Start

The first Pursuit Race of 2015 will be sailed tomorrow night with a first start at 6pm. Sailing Instructions - including the courses to be sailed - and a link to registration can be found here. The Pursuit Race format is user-friendly and eliminates the complicated timing of handicap races and also eliminates the crowded and sometimes intimidating starting line. Handicaps are built in to start times, with slower boats starting first and faster boats' starts delayed to allow slower boats the head start they deserve. Fifteen boats have registered already. The poolside bar will be open to all after sailing, so register now and come by the pool after sailing.

Adult Sailing Lesson Registration is Open

The 2015 Adult Sailing Program offers something for everyone. Whether you are interested in a Learn to Sail class, hope to hone your racing skills, or just need a refresher to feel confident enough to charter a Club Sonar, our professional coaches are ready to work with you to improve your sailing. The 2015 program has several different offerings, but if you don't see what you need - or if the posted schedules don't work for you - be sure to contact Sailing Director Greg Wilkinson and we can work with you or your group to accommodate your needs.
