Letter From The House Committee Chairman
Dear Fellow Members,
By the time you read this it will have been one year since our Clubhouse suffered a major fire. As a result of the quick response and outstanding job done by the Marblehead Fire Department, the cooperation of the various Boards serving the Town of Marblehead, our insurance company working closely alongside us, construction around a winter that brought record snowfall (what happened to “Global Warming” when we actually could have used it!), all under the watchful eye and dedication to excellence by Connolly Brothers…and with the patience and understanding from you the Member…we look forward to opening the doors to a spectacular new Clubhouse in a little over a year from that fateful evening!
How do we get there from here? Well a few things have to happen that are by no means limited to, but include…
• Moving the employees into the new Management Offices (We expect to experience periods of outages with Club phones & internet during this period of time)
• Remove the Double-Wide office trailer from the property
• Complete the millwork installation & floor refinishing
• Obtain the go-ahead from the Board of Health next Friday so we can begin setting up the kitchen & bar areas
• Line up vendor deliveries
• Populate the 14 new guest rooms and first floor areas with rugs, furniture & artwork
• Finalize training the summer staff to get ready for business
Steve & Jay Connolly have laid the groundwork for this to happen, Jeff Wargo and his staff are ready to deliver, and with anticipated cooperation from the Town…we should be ready to officially raise the flags and open for the 2015 season on our target date of Sunday, June 28th. As a result the Flag Officers, Council, and Members of the House Committee are pleased to invite you to the official opening of the 2015 season per the following schedule…
1200 Hours - The Official Flag Raising for the 2015 Season at the Casey Flag Terrace
1201 Hours – The Barker Clubroom Bar opens
1230 Hours – Serving of traditional EYC Chowder, Apple Pie, Hot Dogs, Cotton Candy
1700 Hours – Our first Samoset Porch Buffet of the Season
In view of the fact that we anticipate a large turnout for this event…we would appreciate your understanding that we are limiting participation to Members only. Looking forward to celebrating the rebirth of our Clubhouse that has retained the antiquity & charm that we have come to enjoy & be proud of, with the added comfort of a safer & more efficient physical plant…along with a number of outstanding improvements…that we’ll enjoy for many years to come. See you on the 28th!
