Captain Carl Lessard – Boats, dumb things people do on boats, and how to protect yourself. OK, this is session is officially titled Case Studies in Yacht Liability & Safety . Carl will be assisted by our own Clarke Smith will offer an overview on umbrella insurance to cover yourself both legally and financially. A fun bonus will be a 10 minute time-lapse video of transiting the Panama Canal on a 244-foot Feadship.

This retrospective promises to be both entertaining and educational. If you 1) have a boat, or ever go out on a boat and 2) you have any net worth, you ought to be here. 8 PM in the Sailing Center. Come for dinner and bring down your dessert. Or come after dinner.
The sailing center bar opens at 7:30 and stays open until everyone departs.

Carl Lessard is the Yacht Loss Prevention Specialist for AIG Private Client Group creating safety programs for the yacht and super yacht industry. Carl’s extensive background includes being an experienced yacht and commercial Captain for more than 30 years. He has also acted as the Owner’s Representative for some of the largest private construction projects in the United States. Carl’s lifelong yacht experience ranges from being a Captain of sailing and power yachts to commercial high speed ferries. He has also raced competitively as a professional in the America’s Cup, Maxi Yacht World Championships, Bermuda Races and various other professional sailing events around the world. Working daily with yacht owners, captains, crews, marine project managers and yacht yards, as well as being a past yacht owner himself gives Carl a well versed background in the yachting industry. Carl is a member of the Storm Trysail Club and the Boston Yacht Club.”
